Dermal fillers help to revitalise the skin, restore lost skin volume and fullness, contour and sculpt and reduce the appearance of unwanted wrinkles. As we get older, our skin tends to lose elasticity due to our collagen levels decreasing. Lifestyle factors such as too much sunshine and diet can all contribute to accelerating the ageing process.
Dermal fillers are usually made from a naturally occurring constituent of the skin, called Hyaluronic acid. So how does it work? Hyaluronic acid binds to water under the skin, providing a plumping effect to make skin appear more youthful. It can also be used to reshape features, such as thinning lips, sagging cheeks and jaw lines, and can improve the hollows that can appear under the eyes.
We only use FDA approved products such as Juvéderm, which provide long-lasting and natural results. They also contain lidocaine, a local anaesthetic, so that the procedure is virtually pain-free.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I have dermal filler if I’ve had other aesthetic treatments?
Dermal filler treatment can work very well in conjunction with Botox® often having a synergistic or enhancing effect.
For instance, when Botox is used to relax the 'frown lines', if there are still some lines visible after 2 weeks, the dermal fillers can be used to complete the cosmetic effect. Also, the dermal fillers last much longer when injected into an area where Botox has been used.
How are they injected?
The Fillers are injected under the skin (using the tiniest needle) to 'plump' it out from beneath, so softening the overlying line or wrinkle, or replacing volume lost.
How long will my results last?
The product usually lasts at least a year, depending on where it is injected, the type of product used, and other lifestyle factors, such as sun exposure and smoking. We never use 'permanent' fillers'. Lesley Ash had permanent fillers injected, and so the product cannot be removed other than by surgery!
What are dermal fillers made from?
Dermal fillers are usually made from a naturally occurring constituent of the skin, called 'Hyaluronic Acid'. This is a gel like substance, in which the collagen and elastin fibres normally sit, giving the skin it's elasticity and resilience. It is produced artificially, (not derived from animal products), and 'cross linked' to make it last longer. It is naturally, gradually and completely removed by the body over a period of time.
What if I don’t like my results?
Hyaluronic acid products can, if necessary, be 'melted or dissolved away' within hours, using a product called Hyaluronidase which is an enzyme. We rarely have to use this, but our clients like the idea that these fillers can be reversed if necessary. To ensure a safe experience, a test patch will be done prior to treatment.
What products do you use?
We use a number of FDA approved hyaluronic acid, (HA) fillers, including the Juvéderm Ultra range, Juvéderm Ultra Vycross range (Volbella, Volift and Voluma), and Belotero, Teosyal, Restylane and Emmervel. We also use a non hyaluronic acid filler called Radiesse™, which is an excellent volumising filler.
