You’ve probably heard the word “tweakments” floating around, which are those subtle, non-surgical enhancements that help refresh and refine your natural features. One of the most popular of these is dermal fillers, which have helped countless people feel more confident in their skin. But before you book in, it’s worth knowing what to expect, and what to avoid.

Keep It Real (With Your Expectations)

Fillers can do amazing things like restore volume in hollow cheeks or smooth deep lines, but they’re not a magic wand. The best results often come from a series of treatments, and sometimes another treatment altogether may be more appropriate for your goals. So before jumping in, chat with a qualified practitioner and go in with a realistic idea of what’s possible. This helps you feel empowered, not disappointed.

subtly is key

Worried about looking overdone? You’re not alone. Thanks to some extreme examples in the media, many people are nervous about looking “too filled.” But in the hands of a skilled medical professional, fillers can be incredibly subtle – no one needs to know you’ve had anything done unless you want them to!
The goal isn’t to change your face, it’s to enhance what’s already there. Think: a refreshed, smoother version of you, not a completely different one.

Don’t Ditch Your Skincare

Great skin and great filler results go hand in hand. If your skin’s dull or uneven before a treatment, that won’t magically change unless you’ve got the right skincare routine in place. That’s why we often recommend a skin analysis with one of our therapists first, to make sure your at-home routine is doing the work it needs to. When skincare and “tweakments” work together, your results look better and last longer.

what about maintenance?

Most fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body. This means they’re not permanent, which is actually a good thing. They break down gradually, can be adjusted or even dissolved, and give you flexibility as your face naturally changes over time.
Top-ups will be needed to maintain results, and how often you’ll need them depends on things such as your metabolism, where the filler is placed (lips tend to fade faster than cheeks), and your lifestyle (sun exposure, smoking, weight changes).
